Cyclops MedTech Pvt. Ltd. is a Bangalore based start-up working extensively in the areas of eye tracking and vestibular science. Cyclops’ vision is to create highly innovative and cost effective medical technology and devices which can dramatically expand the diagnosis horizon and thereby aid in faster and better cure.  

Cyclops’ first product, a "complete balance assessment tool" is a wearable clinical device used to diagnose vertigo. We started working on the product in 2012 and produced a working alpha prototype in 8 months. The device was tested at a leading ENT centre in Bangalore for over 6 months. The device was showcased at AOICON and received a overwhelming response from ENT specialists from across the country. Presently we are on the verge of completing Cyclops beta prototype and the product should be commercially available by the Sept 2016. 

Cyclops is working on a suite of products across the entire balance spectrum and are also doing a lot of research on eye tracking and it's application to diagnose various medical conditions. 

The company is being incubated at the Bio Medical Innovation Centre at BMS College of Engineering, Bangalore.

Aura is a fabless semiconductor company innovating high performance IC products for IoT Radios, Timing and Portable Audio markets.

Aura was founded in 2010 by engineers having extensive global semiconductor product development experience, and is located in Bangalore, India. Over the last several years, we have built a highly talented team that has designed our differentiated products. And in 2016, we closed on our first round of funding with WRV Capital. The products designed with Aura’s core high performance technology and IP, are currently sampling with customers worldwide.

Aura has created the world’s smallest BTLE+ 802.15.4 Radio IP for IOT markets. Aura’s solution is almost a third of the competing solutions. This has resulted in the top IOT Bluetooth LE Stack providers including ARM and Mindtree partnering with Aura.

20 Years of RF experience has gone into producing the world’s smallest BTLE + 802.15.4 transceiver IP.

This IP is less than 0.5sqmm in size while most of the competing solutions are more than 1.5sqmm in area. A savings of 1sqmm in 40nm amounts to ~5c savings on the die cost. This is a considerable saving in the gross margins when the ASPs of the IOT chips are in the 60c-80c range.

While maintaining the smallest area, the IP has the best in class performance specs. It has one of the highest reported RF sensitivity and it is among the lowest power solutions available today.

Hyperspectral cameras produce spectral data of an object or a scene. This spectral data can be utilized to study the characteristics of the scene, in addition to the spatial data, and hence obtain an extra dimension of information that is not available from standard Bayer RGB cameras.

Low cost spectral cameras from competitors from Europe and US use pre-deposited narrow band filters that provide 4-5 bands of spectral data. This data is only sufficient to know whether a plant is healthy or stressed. Such cameras start from $3500 plus cost of Software to analyze the data. If you need more insights, high-end spectral cameras that produce continuous spectra (100+ bands) are used. And these range from $50K+.

The 3 Techno Graduate Innovators won the Technovation Award for their project on Communicative Glove. Communicative Glove is a Human-Machine Interface system that converts the signs made using hand gestures to the corresponding audio and text message understood by all. Communication is a major aspect of life. For speech and hearing impaired individuals, standard forms of communication feel short. The main challenge the speech and hearing impaired individuals face is to communicate their message using sign language which is esoteric to the healthy individuals. But, sign language has proven to be an effective means for expressing and interpreting information for the speech and hearing impaired individuals. Communicative Glove is an ideal combination of a portable hand glove and an Android app. The glove consists of flex and IMU sensors which track the signs made. Further, the processing of sensor data is done by a microcontroller which transmits the processed data to the app via a Bluetooth module. The Android app ‘Dhvani’ operates either in calibration mode or in function mode. Calibration mode makes the glove useful for all hand sizes. In operation mode of the app, the data received from the glove is converted into speech and text. Also, the app has a listen feature for the hearing impaired, making it to act like voice and ears. The alphabets/numbers/words made in the form of signs are transformed into understandable speech and text, thus enabling the auditory disabled with two-way communication capability. Communicative Glove has been tested for its functionality at the ‘Priyadarshini deaf and dumb residential school, Hubballi’.

Anoop Bhat is currently working as an analog design engineer at Kilby Labs, Texas Instruments, India. He is presently concentrating on designing electromagnetic interference and cross talk immune full duplex receiver circuits for high speed isolated die-to-die data link.

Anoop Bhat graduated with MS from IIT Madras, Chennai, in July 2016 under the guidance of Dr. Nagendra Krishnapura. He worked on maximizing the data rate of an OOK link by resetting the channel state variables accessible at transmitter and receiver. Fabricated silicon to test the theory proved 4x improvements in the data rate compared to existing prior arts. During this time he worked as an intern at Texas Instruments, India.

He obtained his B. E. degree from R. V. College of engineering, Bengaluru. He interned at Cypress Semiconductors for his final semester project and designed logic analyzer and waveform generator for handheld oscilloscope.

He is the co-author of an ISSCC-2017 publication and holds two patents. He was recognized as best outgoing student for higher education at ECE department R. V. C. E. in 2012 and is member of the die-to-die isolation team recognized at TI, India in 2016 for team’s outstanding contribution.

He is currently working as a Visiting Scientist in Texas Analog Center of Excellence, University of Texas at Dallas, Richardson, Texas, USA.

During 2002-2005, he was working as a Member Design Team in Alliance Semiconductor, Bangalore, India. During 2006-2008, he was working as a Research Consultant in Advanced VLSI Design Laboratory of Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. During 2008-2009, he was with National Semiconductor, Tokyo, Japan, as a Senior Design Engineer.

He had published several research papers in the international journals and conferences. He was the recipient of “Best Entry in Ph.D. Forum” award in the 29th International Conference on VLSI Design and 15th International Conference on Embedded Systems in 2016. He was also co-recipient of the Winner and Runners-up awards in Cadence Design Contest-India in 2011 and 2012 respectively. His research interests include power management ICs for portable applications and low power, high performance analog ICs.

Prof. Partha Pratim Chakrabarti

Partha Pratim Chakrabarti completed his BTech (1985) and PhD (1989) from the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, working on Heuristic Search Theory and Algorithms, in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI). He joined the Department of Computer Science and Engineering as a faculty member (1988) and is currently Professor as well as Dean of Sponsored Research and Industrial Consultancy (SRIC) at IIT, Kharagpur. He is also the Head of Advanced Technology Development Centre.

Professor Chakrabarti graduated as a President of India Gold Medal winner and was among the first IIt CSE graduates to do a PhD in India. Subsequently in his research work, he was among the first from India to publish in the highest rated AI journals. He solved some longstanding open search problems in the areas of cyclic and/or graphs, multi-criteria optimization, logic integration and search learning. He then applied the methods developed by him in several practical applications including optimization, planning, computer vision and finally in the area of CAD for VLSI. He has used AI methods for VLSI synthesis and for reasoning about the behaviour of circuits, including formal verification, timing and power, CAD databases, etc. His work has been incorporated in industry level tools of major companies and his methods are also being used for other applications including automotive systems and web protocols. He has mentored a large number of students including 23 PhDs. He has taught a large number of courses covering the gamut of computer science, with special emphasis on algorithms, AI and CAD for VLSI design. His research work is now referred in standard text books.

Chakrabarti set up a state-of-the-art Advanced VLSI Design Laboratory at IIT Kharagpur making it an international centre. He then developed the AVLSI Consortium to include a large set of companies to support this unique initiative. Recently, he has set up the GM-IIT Kharagpur Collaborative Research Laboratory on ECS. As Dean of SRIC in IIT Kharagpur, he helped develop a large number of Advanced Laboratories in niche areas. 

Professor Chakrabarti has received a number of awards. Prominent among these are the President of India Gold Medal (1985), INSA Medal for Young Scientist (1991), Anil K Bose Memorial Medal (1995); INAE Young Engineer's Award (1997), Swarnajayanti Fellowship (1997-98) and SS Bhatnagar Prize (2000). He is a Fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore, Indian National Academy of Engineering and the West Bengal Academy of Science & Technology. He received the first INAE Visweswarya Chair Professorship.

Mr Alur Seelin Kiran Kumar, Distinguished Scientist (Apex) and Director, Space Applications Centre, Ahmedabad, assumed the office of the Secretary, Department of Space, Chairman, Space Commission and Chairman, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on January 14, 2015.

Mr Kiran Kumar is a highly accomplished space scientist and engineer with a distinguished career spanning over four decades in ISRO in the satellite payload and applications domains.

He has made immense contributions to the design and development of Electro-Optical Imaging Sensors for Airborne, Low Earth Orbit and Geostationary Orbit satellites starting from Bhaskara TV payload to the Mars Orbiter Mission payloads.

Mr Kiran Kumar was instrumental in evolving the successful strategy for steering the Mars Orbiter Spacecraft towards planet Mars as well as its Mars Orbit Insertion. He has also made significant contributions for evolving the observation strategy encompassing land, ocean, atmospheric and planetary studies.

Mr Kiran Kumar is an alumnus of National College, the esteemed educational institution of Bangalore. He obtained his Physics (Honours) Degree from Bangalore University in 1971 and later obtained his Master’s degree in Electronics from the same university in 1973, and thereafter his M.Tech Degree in Physical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in 1975. Mr Kiran Kumar began his career in ISRO by joining Space Applications Centre (SAC) in 1975. Later, he became its Associate Director and in March 2012 took over as the Director of SAC.
